About these terms

These terms apply to the selftone apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad, made by Sergey Hartmann (“I”, “we”). The apps are licensed to you through the App Store under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add a few things specific to selftone. If they conflict with Apple’s agreement on anything Apple’s agreement covers, Apple’s agreement wins.

Free trial and purchase

  • Every new user gets full access for 3 days, free.
  • After the trial, music playback stops until you unlock selftone with a one-time purchase of $8.99 (or the local equivalent shown in the App Store).
  • It’s not a subscription. There are no recurring charges.
  • One purchase unlocks selftone on your Mac, iPhone and iPad with the same Apple Account.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Using the music

selftone composes music on your device while you listen. You may use what you hear:

  • as background while you work, study or create;
  • in your live streams, videos, podcasts and recordings, without asking us and without crediting selftone (a mention is always appreciated).

You may not:

  • sell, license or distribute recordings of selftone as standalone music, for example as tracks, albums, playlists or sample packs on streaming services or stock sites;
  • register selftone recordings with Content ID or similar systems, or claim them as your own composition;
  • extract, copy or redistribute the instrument samples or other files inside the app.

The app

We keep improving selftone and may add, change or remove features in updates. The app is provided as is. We do our best to make it reliable, but we can’t promise it will be free of bugs or available on every future version of macOS and iOS.

Don’t reverse engineer, modify or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses from using selftone, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law in your country.
