Privacy Policy

selftone collects no data. Here is exactly what that means.

The short version

selftone doesn’t collect any data about you. No account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. The app makes music on your device and doesn’t talk to our servers at all.

Last updated October 20, 2026

Who we are

selftone is made by Sergey Hartmann, an independent developer (“I”, “we”). This policy covers the selftone apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad and the website selftone.app.

Questions about privacy go to:

support@selftone.app

What the app collects

Nothing. selftone runs entirely on your device. It doesn’t send your listening history, settings, device identifiers or anything else to us or to anyone else. There are no analytics or advertising SDKs inside the app. The only way anything reaches us is an email you choose to send (see Feedback by email).

What stays on your device

The app keeps your likes and dislikes on chapters, and any reasons and comments you enter in the feedback dialog, in a file on your device. Deleting the app removes this data.

Feedback by email

When you press Send in the feedback dialog, the app opens a draft email to support@selftone.app in your own mail app. The draft contains the mode, the chapter number, the reasons and comment you entered, and a technical description of the music that was playing (key, tempo, chords and instrument names). It contains no device identifiers or account details. Nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself, and you can edit or delete anything in the draft first. We use these emails only to improve the music and to reply to you.

Purchases

The free trial and the one-time purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes your payment under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether selftone is unlocked on your device.

The website

selftone.app doesn’t use cookies, analytics or trackers, and it loads no third-party scripts or fonts. Your browser’s local storage remembers which mode you last picked on the page; it stays in your browser.

Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of request) for security and to keep the site running. We don’t use these logs to identify you.

Children

selftone collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we don’t hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export or delete. If you write to us by email, we use your message only to reply, and we delete the conversation on request.

Changes

If selftone ever starts collecting any data, we will update this page and the App Store privacy details before the change ships, and say what changed.
